March was a busy and productive month for the Health Departments of Riverkids. Overall there were ten babies in the Baby Bellies Program who received cereal, formula and general health advice. 35 clients received medical check ups and medicines. 15 clients saw the Doctor and received medical treatment and medicines. Five pregnant clients were seen and three clients were hospitalized for different reasons.
We continue to do our best to educate parents regarding good health and hygiene practices to help ensure their babies are healthy and happy. Home visits are taking place and mothers are being educated and reminded on keeping themselves healthy and in turn their babies should be safe from illness. The vaccination program remains a priority for our staff, however to protect babies from illness, we need their mothers bring them in for their vaccinations which can be a challenge. The Health Mom Healthy Baby Program is working well with 2 mothers graduating during March and another mother soon to be ready for graduation. No new clients joined the program during March.
Overall a successful month for the Health Department with clients responding well to the programs put in place. Majority of the clients are responding well to medical advice which is encouraging for us at Riverkids.
