Our Community Nurse handing the milk powder to the family. Thanks to all our donors for supporting Riverkids’ Baby Bellies and the chubby, healthy and happy babies!
The two mothers we wrote about in I give up – take my baby are now employed in safer jobs!
One has found work at a garment factory, and her neighbour is leaving her temporary job at a Karaoke bar to join her at the garment factory next month.
While they’re at work, one of Riverkids’ housemothers takes care of the two babies. The women can concentrate on doing well in their new jobs, knowing that their children are being cared for safely and around lots of other caring children and adults.
The babies have been enrolled in our Baby Bellies programme as well. Their health is improving thanks to the extra nutrition, and their mothers don’t have to choose between food for their babies or rent.
We’re going to work with them on finding more family and neighbourhood support and improving their skills for better paying work, as well as good parenting skills.
But right now? Having seen the grief of children separated by trafficking, we’re just so glad that we were able to help bridge the gap and keep these mothers and babies together.
