The Riverkids Tree of Hope 2015

This holiday season, bring a little Cambodian shine to your hall that shines joy and hope for our children at Riverkids! We’re opening our first family-centred shelter that focuses only on intensive counselling and therapy for hurt and abused children. Help us build this place that is full of hope, share that joy and give them a fresh start so that they can recover and be healed for a better year ahead.

The Tree of Hope are beautiful handmade silk ornaments of animals and classic shapes from Cambodia, all created by fair-trade and charitable groups that Riverkids works with - and this year, we are delighted to announce that many of the little geckoes, stars, candy canes and hearts were made by our very own Sew Happy team thanks to their improved technical skills!

Each box of Tree of Hope ornaments comes with individually wrapped ornaments with a small cheerful tag about Riverkids. A wonderful idea is to decorate a tree with the tagged ornaments or set them out in a basket at your office or school and at $10 an ornament for a month of school, let people share a little holiday happiness for a child in Cambodia. Riverkids includes an easy form to keep track of the ornaments and we can help with a poster, brochures and other materials.

Or you could just remove the bottom half of the tag to turn it into an instant holiday keepsake for friends and family!

Postage is free in Singapore and a flat $10 anywhere else in the world. The ornaments available are randomly selected as we aim to have as much variety in colour and types in each assortment for the most fun. A few of the ornaments are pictured above.

I’ve brought back with me a beautiful range of Christmas ornaments made by Riverkids women and wonderful social enterprises in Cambodia. Meeting these women personally and hearing their stories have been life-changing. We’ve already got pre-orders from friends of Riverkids for super-adorable deer, penguins, dolphins, angels and stars! Knowing that the money raised could give these women a bright and sustainable future makes these ornaments such meaningful Christmas decorations that deserve a place on your Christmas tree this year.
